Music Cities Network Showcase @ SPOT Festival 2019!
Niklas Runge (Aarhus)
With Niklas Runge’s wide and heartfelt vocal, the audience is drawn into the dreamy and melancholy universe he creates. The lyrics are pictorial and personal and supported by appealing and beautiful melodies. It is airy indie pop where sincerity, honesty and vulnerability are some of the keywords to describe the lyrics and compositions. Behind Runge is the multi-instrumentalist and singersongwriter, Niklas Runge, who captivates his audience from the stage with personal songs and an outstanding vocal.

MAYES (Hamburg)
MAYES combines heartfelt, reflecting words with guitar-driven, graceful melodies, taking you to a place where you want to cry and surf at the same time. Working around British frontman Sam Mayes‘ clear, unique voice, the Hamburg based band has found its sound somewhere between jangle pop, new wave and softrock since forming in late 2015. Pairing British understatement with their unhurried, welcoming approach to songs and melodies, their music is touching and entertaining at the same time.

Inge van Calkar (Groningen)
Always dressed in white, with a matching white Fender Jazzmaster guitar as the finishing touch, Inge van Calkar is on a never ending adventurous musical path, mixing pop songs, guitars and electronics. On this bended bumpy road, she crosses paths with the likes of PJ Harvey, Blondie and Dua Lipa.

iris (Bergen)
The Norwegian singersongwriter, Vilde Iris Hartveit Kolltveit, makes music of exquisite balance. Deep emotions play out on a backdrop of warm, minimalist electronica. Stories of love and connection vie with a desire for solitude. This is coming-of-age music, capturing all the intensity of early adulthood. And it sets out the stall of an idiosyncratic writer who, at just 22, has a kind of self-knowledge that reaches far beyond her years.
